From
planning to evaluation, Learning Together supports the site-based
coordinators selected to facilitate your program. Coordinators may be
state-certified reading or math teachers, media specialists, resource
teachers, retired teachers, paraprofessionals or qualified
community volunteers. Learning Together tailors on-site training to
their needs, so each is prepared to select, train and supervise one or
more teams of 15 tutors.
While Learning Together training is
interactive and customized to your implementation, our
trainers follow a detailed manual and established professional development strategies to ensure consistent delivery. Instruction begins with a review of scientifically-based research, including math or reading strategies and the academic and social outcomes of tutoring. Training also
includes modeling and guided practice in the instructional strategies
used during tutorials. The objective is to review program
materials, plan tutor training and prepare coordinators to observe
tutorials.
Each
coordinator receives a Coordinator’s Manual that outlines every step of
implementation. It includes parent letters, tutor application,
attendance forms and complete lesson preparation. End-of-program
surveys add valuable information about social outcomes, to use in
conjunction with state and local academic testing in evaluating
outcomes. In addition to the manual, coordinators receive:
- Tutor’s Guidebooks (30 lessons; 15 for summer school)
- Resource CD (electronic documents, orientation PowerPoints, fliers and posters)
- Training DVD (Reading Together)
- Canvas tote bag
- Newsletters and updates
- Access
to the Learning Together Community, a private website for networking
with other educators. The Resource Download section of the site
provides electronic management tools, research articles and links to
enhance implementation.
- Access to correlations to state standards
- Free phone and email access to
the Educational Consultant who provided program training. We're
here to help with all your implementation questions.
During
training, your Educational Consultant will schedule a return visit
to provide additional professional development and to facilitate a
coordinator debriefing. We find regular contact among coordinators is
the best way to keep to keep commitment and implementation at the
highest level. Our goal is to build your capacity to
sustain Reading Together and Math Together, so we
can continue to impact struggling students at a critical point in
their development. Together we can raise student achievment by the
power of 2!
