Building a solid base for Algebra I. MathTogether/Get Ready 4 Algebra is a structured peer teaching program designed by working math educators to prepare struggling middle- and high-school students for Pre-Algebra and Algebra I coursework. Both tutors and tutees have significant gaps in understanding that require remediation before they can access Algebra I, considered the gatekeeper to success in high school and college math.
The emphasis is on fractions, rational numbers and study skills, areas of weakness identified by Algebra I teachers. Lessons also explore career options, and help students connect what they are learning with plans they are making for the future. The program is organized into two 30-lesson modules, which may be taught independently, consecutively as an elective course, or in extended day programs.
