Math Together/Elementary Sample Lessons

Interdisciplinary lessons put word problems in the context of passages about U.S. history. The program targets third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students, with best practices recommended by the 2008 Final report of the National Mathematics Advisory Panel. Addresses numeration, measurement, algebra, geometry and data analysis. Hands-on activities help tutees explore new concepts, and problem-solving paradigm provides a format for approaching word problems.

History Together™ is an optional literacy extension for Math Together that looks at U.S. history from an African American perspective. It allows students to compare information from multiple sources, focus more intensively on the history presented in the math lessons, and extends vocabulary work.
