Our
Senior Management Team has extensive expertise in education, sales and
marketing, corporate finance, law and business. They have worked
in the public, private and non-profit sectors, bringing a unique
understanding of education and business, and a keen appreciation of the
opportunities and challenges facing schools and
communities.
William Cassell, Founder & CEO, started The
Learning Together Company in 2001 because he was passionate about
helping children transform their lives through education. He is involved in the business and non-profit
communities of North Carolina. He established the North Carolina
International Commission to create comprehensive strategic partnerships
for the state; he led the North Carolina/Israel Cooperation Committee,
bringing together leaders from universities, government, the arts, the
business community, and high-tech research and development. He
serves on the board of the Development Foundation of the North Carolina
Center for the Advancement of Teaching, the University of North
Carolina at Greensboro Board of Visitors, the Bryan School of Business
and Economics Business Advisory Board and the board of the Ruth Z.
Fleishman Foundation. He has a BA from Duke University and JD
from Tulane University.
Monte Moses, Senior Educational Consultant, comes from a family of educators, with wife Kathy, brother Mike and father Morgan all prominent in their fields in Colorado and Texas. Dr. Moses retired as Superintendent of Cherry Creek School District in Colorado, and also served as administrator in Littleton, Colorado; Garland, Texas; and Casper, Wyoming, and as professor of education at Murray State University in Kentucky. He is author of many books and articles on leadership and organizational improvement. Awards include the Governor’s Award for Educational Excellence and AASA National Superintendent of the Year in 2005. He has served on numerous panels and commissions at the state, national, and international level, including the Colorado Race to the Top committee, ASCD advisory board on the whole child, Colorado P-20 Council, the Western States Benchmarking Consortium and the advisory boards for ACT and the College Board. Dr. Moses holds an undergraduate and Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University, and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University, where he was recognized as a Peabody Scholar.
Katy O'Meara, Director of District Development, discovered the effectiveness of Learning Together during a five-year tenure as a “Teach for America” elementary teacher in a Las Vegas, NV district where 85% of students were learning English as a second language. While her joy for teaching began in high school on the ski slopes of New Hampshire, her passion for helping at-risk children came to light while volunteering at a South African orphanage for HIV-infected children, and with “Our Kids” as a mentor for children of incarcerated parents in Washington, DC. Katy has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Psychology, Cum Laude, from George Washington University, Washington, DC and Masters Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Nevada. She also is a certified English as a Second Language teacher.
Amy Werner, Director of Training,
has more than 15 years of experience as a teacher, reading resource
specialist, professional development trainer and presenter at national
educational conferences. Her field of expertise and passion is
helping elementary school children who are reading below grade
level find pleasure and academic success as readers.
Amy taught third grade and in multi-age classrooms in
Durham City Schools, NC, which gives her an appreciation
of the power of cooperative learning. She has nine years of experience
as a professional development trainer for reading curricula, with
extensive expertise in supporting schools as they implement
new initiatives, including family literacy and ELL
programs. Amy has a BS in Education from Salisbury State,
MD.
